Where is it?
Located in the southern part of Caledonia county, the quaint town of Groton spans nearly 33,000 acres across the Northeast Kingdom. Groton State Forest
Groton is home to five different state parks, all within Groton State Forest! (Big Deer State Park, Boulder Beach State Park, Ricker Pond State Park, Seyon Lodge State Park and Stillwater State Park.) There’s roughly 17 miles of collective hiking trails over the 26,000 acres of forest, some of which are suitable for mountain biking and even horseback riding! With several parks having camping and RV sites, you can make your stay special by spending the night to enjoy all the scenic views.
Groton Nature Center
Tucked within Groton State Forest you can find the Groton Nature Center. This interactive and educational exhibit features an array of information on the local geology, wildlife, and human history of Groton! Take our word for it, you’re sure to learn something on your visit to this kid-friendly attraction.
Groton Recreational Railroad Bed
Town owned and maintained, these 6 miles of recreational trail are apart of the Cross Vermont Rail Trail. Walk, bike, or even snowmobile across this scerene snippet of Groton’s lush scenery. Follow the trail east to head into Wells River, or west to reach Marshfield!

Groton Free Public Library
Established in 1895 and located in the historic Alice Lord Goodine House in the heart of Groton Village, the Groton Free Public Library is a municipal library that offers a wide catalog of books. They host weekly storytimes as well as craft sessions and even adult learning and career development services!

Founded in the early 1930s, the Groton Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of Groton. Winter Lights Show
Held annually right in Groton Village, the winter light show hosts prominent displays of dazzling light features. Join the festivities at the Groton Free Public Library. Have fun making something at the craft tables and enjoy refreshments from local vendors! All are welcome at this free family-friendly event!
Fall Foliage Festival & Chicken Pie Supper
The pinnacle of community events in Groton is held yearly, the Fall Foliage Festival! Spend the day downtown and purchase from local vendors as you enjoy the autaminal scenery. In the evening, head over to the Community Building and take part in the famous Chicken Pie Supper. Dine in or take out and enjoy a volunteer made pie!
